It was more than just a night of art and com munity\; it was a deeply personal project\, rooted in love\, intention\, a nd everything I’ve come to value through my journey in Coventry.\n\n&nbs p\;\n\nProduced under Triple Moon Productions\, this event was something I poured my whole heart into. The date itself wasn’t chosen at random. De cember can be a joyful time for many\, but for survivors of domestic abuse \, it's often the most dangerous. I wanted the event to shine a light on t his\, to remind people that while the world celebrates\, some women are st ruggling behind closed doors. I knew HerStory had to happen during this ti me—not only to raise awareness but to channel some of that festive energ y into something meaningful and restorative.\n\n \;\n\nHosting it at t he LTB felt right in every way. That space has history for me—from atten ding exhibitions there as a student to finding solace and inspiration in i ts post-COVID revival as a creative hub. It felt like coming full circle. The LTB has always been a place that fosters openness\, art\, and together ness—everything HerStory stood for.\n\n \;\n\nWe worked closely with two local organisations: Positive Images Festival and\, most importantly\ , Sanctuary Collective and their women’s group. Collaborating with small er grassroots groups was essential to me. So often\, women in crisis feel intimidated or failed by larger institutions\, and what they really need i s a space where they feel heard\, safe\, and held—by people who understa nd them and share their experiences. These community groups do incredible\ , often invisible work on the ground\, yet they’re the ones who are usua lly the most underfunded. It was important for me to centre them in this w ork and give something back.\n\n \;\n\nThe night itself was a beautifu l tapestry of performances that explored womanhood and the female experien ce from a wide range of perspectives. We had music\, poetry\, and short pl ays\, all contributed by a wonderfully diverse pool of performers whose li ved experiences enriched the night. The highlight for many was the debut p erformance of There is Always a Choice\, a powerful one-woman show written by local playwright Andrew Sharpe. It encapsulated themes of survival and the impossible choices many women—especially those affected by domestic abuse\, sexual assault\, and violence—are forced to make.\n\n \;\n\ nHerStory was also a fundraiser\, and thanks to the generosity of our comm unity\, we raised £533 for Sanctuary Collective\, to directly support the women in their group.
